Sunrise refractory Magnesia Carbon Bricks Compositions.
The main raw materials of magnesia carbon brick including magnesite, flaky graphite, organic binder and antioxidant. Magnesite is the main raw material of MgO C brick. There are two types, one is fused magnesite and the other is sintered magnesite, and they have different characteristics. Compared with sintered magnesite, fused magnesite is featured with bulky periclase crystals, and high bulk density of the particles. Magnesite quality has a very important influence on the magnesia carbon brick. How to reasonably choose magnesia is the key to the production of magnesium carbon brick.
Graphite as the main raw material of MgO C brick, mainly due to its excellent physical performance: Non-wetting for slag, high thermal conductivity, and low thermal expansion. In addition, graphite is not eutectic with refractories at high temperature.it has high refractoriness.
In order to improve the oxidation resistance of MgO C brick, it is added to additives. The functions of the additives can be elaborated from two aspects:
On the one hand, from the thermodynamics aspect. In the working temperature, additives reacts with carbon, thus generates other material, which is more easily oxidized compared with carbon, thus protecting the carbon. On the other hand, from the dynamics aspect. Additives react with oxygen, carbon monoxide or carbon changing the microstructure of carbon composite refractories, such as increasing density, clogging pores, and preventing oxygen or other reaction products from spreading and so on. Commonly used binders of the mag carbon bricks are coal tar, coal pitch, asphalt, as well as special carbon resin, polyol, asphalt modified phenolic resin, synthetic resin, etc.
