'Alkaline refractories with magnesium oxide content above 90% and periclase as the main crystalline phase.
Generally can be divided into two categories: sintered magnesium brick (also known as firing magnesium brick) and chemically bonded magnesium brick (also known as non-burned magnesium brick). Magnesia bricks with high purity and high firing temperature are called direct bonded magnesium bricks due to direct contact of periclase crystals; bricks made from fused magnesia as raw materials are called electrofused recombination magnesium bricks.
The main crystalline phase of periclase is a basic refractory product. The product has the characteristics of high mechanical strength at high temperature, good slag resistance, strong erosion resistance, and stable volume at high temperatures.
Magnesia bricks have high refractoriness, good resistance to alkaline slag, high initial load softening temperature, but poor thermal shock resistance. Sintered magnesia bricks are made of brick magnesia bricks, which are crushed, compounded, kneaded, and molded to be fired at a high temperature of 1550 to 1600°C. The high-purity products have a firing temperature of 1750°C or more. Magnesia bricks are made by adding suitable chemical binders to the magnesite and mixing, forming, and drying.
Mainly used in steel-making alkaline furnace, electric furnace hearth and furnace wall, longer lining of oxygen converter, non-ferrous metal smelting furnace, high-temperature tunnel kiln, calcined magnesia brick and cement rotary kiln lining, furnace hearth and furnace wall , glass kiln regenerators, lattice bricks, etc.
